Embracing the Dry Climate: Beauty Essentials for Being Outdoors

Living the ranch life in mountains of Colorado comes with its own set of challenges, especially when it comes to skincare and beauty. The dry climate can be harsh on our skin and hair, leaving everything completely dehydrated. The last year I set out on a mission to discover simple routines with hydrating products to liven up my hair and skin, without compromising my times spent outdoors. I've tried it all from Tallow to Snail Mucin and feel that I have finally discovered some essential products that keep me feeling fresh, confident, and ready to tackle the day. Whether it's facing the elements while tending to the livestock or simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery, these beauty essentials have become my go-to companions. Here, I'm excited to share them with you, along with affiliate links to make them easily accessible to anyone embracing life in a dry climate.

1. Moisturizing Sunscreen:

Living in Colorado means endless sunny days, which also means constant exposure to the sun's rays. A good moisturizing sunscreen is a must-have to protect your skin from sun damage while keeping it hydrated.

2. Hydrating Lip Balm:

Chapped lips are a common annoyance in dry climates, but with the right lip balm, you can keep them soft and moisturized all day long. Look for hydrating formulas with natural ingredients like bee's wax or coconut oil and those with SPF are a bigger hit with me!

3. Nourishing Hair Mask:

The dry air can take a toll on your hair, leaving it brittle and prone to breakage. I've found that using a nourishing hair mask once a week helps restore moisture and shine, keeping my locks healthy and manageable even after a long day on the ranch.

4. Rejuvenating Facial Serum + Snail Mucin:

Before or after spending a day outdoors, there's nothing like treating your skin to a rejuvenating serum to replenish lost hydration and promote cell renewal. I love layering my serum with the snail mucin moisturizer to truly nourish my skin.

5. Soothing Body Lotion:

I feel like I have tried hundreds of body lotions and only CeraVe actually moisturizes my skin, and most importantly KEEPS it hydrated throughout the day! Other lotions often wear off after a few hours, leaving dry, itchy skin behind for the rest of the day.

As a rancher navigating life in Colorado's dry climate, these beauty essentials have become indispensable in my daily routine. I am sure some of you are reading this and wondering, "What about Tallow?" I have tried a variety of tallow products and I don't dislike them. I have extremely sensitive skin so a lot of the tallow products caused my face to breakout. HOWEVER, I do love to use beef tallow on extremely dry areas (like elbows or knuckles) prior to bedtime. I have found this to be the best way to moisturize with tallow.

From protecting my skin from the sun's harsh rays to keeping my hair and lips hydrated, each product plays a vital role in helping me look and feel my best, both on and off the ranch. If you're facing similar challenges with dry skin and hair, I highly recommend giving these products a try. Click on the affiliate links provided to discover more about each item and experience the difference they can make in your beauty routine. Here's to embracing the beauty of the dry climate with confidence and style!
